    Four From Northeast Conferred With NSS Awards

    The awardees for 2017-18 include volunteers, programme coordinators and programme officers of the NSS

    Gami Bogo, Daikho Dominic Shenache, Jyotishman Moran and Shibshankar from the Northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Assam and Tripura were among the 41 people to have been felicitated with the coveted National Service Scheme(NSS) awards by President Ram Nath Kovind in recognition of their exemplary and commendable social service on September 24th, 2019.

    The awardees include volunteers, programme coordinators and programme officers of the NSS for the year 2017-18.

    Gami Bogo, a dedicated young NSS Volunteer was awarded the NSS Award by President Kovind in a glittering ceremony at the Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on Tuesday. An active volunteer for environment protection, Gami was also instrumental in Organized a campaign with 1,000 volunteers to generate awareness on Mission Indra Dhanush (Immunization Programs), AIDs & Drugs Abuse and Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. She had also bagged the state level award as the Best NSS Volunteer in 2017-18. Currently pursuing her Post Graduation in the Rajiv Gandhi University, Gami is a gold medalist in Botany.

    On the other hand, Daikho Dominic Shenache was instrumental in renovation of community water tank, construction of community toilets, village approach road and the bus waiting shed in Ramlung village, Manipur. He promoted the use of bio-degradable dustbins and installed them in the village. He is also involved in literacy campaigns, voluntary blood donation, malaria eradication and tree plantation campaigns. In recognition of his outstanding social service through NSS, Daikho was honoured with the NSS Award.

    Jyotishman Moran from Assam, a student of Gauhati University and Shib Shankar Choudhury from Tripura, a Business Management student of Tripura University also received the honour for their service towards the society.
