    ‘Estranged Husband’ Stabs Woman In Guwahati’s Beltola, Accused Held

    Post the incident, the locals have questioned on the security, safeguard of women in Guwahati

    An ‘estranged husband’ from the Boko town of Kamrup district in the late evening hours of September 8th, 2019 stabbed his ex-wife leaving her seriously injured in Guwahati’s Beltola area.

    The incident took place near the Vishnu temple yesterday evening while the victim was on her way towards her home from office.

    As per initial reports, the accused Lakhya Kalita, a resident of Boko claimed that he had tied the knot with the victim 5 years back and it was only after he came to know that she had “cheated” on him with another man when he rowed the seeds of revenge.

    “We were married for 5 years and it was only a few months back that i got to know that she was cheating on me with another man and wanted a revenge on her,” said Kalita who is currently under police custody.

    “I had planned to kill her because she destroyed my life,” he added.

    The woman who was immediately rushed to the Health city hospital is referred to the GMCH for better treatment.

    Meanwhile, the locals have questioned on the security and safeguard of women in the city.
