‘Disgusting’: Jaya Bachchan Calls For ‘Lynching’ Of Hyderabad Rapists, Faces Backlash

Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan under the eye of a storm post her statements on Hyderabad rape, murder case

The barbaric Hyderabad rape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinarian led to heated discussions at the ongoing session of the Parliament on December 2nd, 2019. While some MPs urged for strict policies and capital punishment for the four accused, MP Jaya Bachchan’s statements have stroke a controversy across the nation.

The Rajya Sabha MP was quoted as saying that ‘rapists should be lynched in public’. “I think it is time… The people want the government to give a proper and definite answer,” she said.

“If you have not been able to provide security then leave it to the public to give judgement. Those who failed to provide security and those who committed the crime should be exposed in public, and then let people decide,” the MP said outside the Parliament as quoted by ANI.

However, the ‘ridiculous’, ‘bizarre’ statements didn’t go very well among the netizens and criticisms started pouring in from all quarters. Twitteratis started giving their reactions on the statements and currently, #JayaBachchan is No. 5 trending on the microblogging site.
