Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on August 14th, 2019, flagged off the daily direct flight of Indigo Airlines from Agartala to Delhi at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala for the first time. It brought breathe of relief for the passengers as they will not have to waste time waiting for another connecting flight. This is a big step in the development of Tripura. “I believed that we have enough passengers to fill up the Agartala-Delhi flight”, Deb said.
It may be mentioned that, in Northeast, after Guwahati, maximum flights land daily in Tripura’s MBB airport. Tripura is a small state but the people of the state know the worth of time. So now they won’t have to waste time anymore.
Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore dreamt of a model state, paying respect to him, in short time, PM Narendra Modi renamed as Maharaja Bir Bikram airport. Deb thanked Modi once again in his speech.
Transportation is an important factor in the development of any state. As PM Narendra Modi stated to transform Tripura into HIRA, Sabroom-Agartala highway has been made. In the next 4 years, the rest of the highways roads will be made investing 8,000 crores. On the other hand, the state’s GDP will increase. Government is working to increase GDP and revenue so that the state can be self-contained. Government is also working to transform Tripura into an IT hub in all over the North-east, for that state government has released a tender for the land near the old Central Jail road. As a result, a lot of youths will find jobs and nobody will need to go outside the state looking out for employment.
The government also has started Rajdhani Express, but lately, there have been complaints of the train delaying for 9 hours, it is due to the single route track, He added. Railways are working for that. Dharmanagar-Kailasahar-Khowai-Agartala-Belonia alternative railway tracks will be completed by 2020 investing minimum 7,000 crores. The Central and state government is working together for that.
