    Demonetisation Destroyed Country’s Economy: Ripun Bora

    Around seven lakh youths will lose their jobs within the next three months

    Assam Congress president Ripun Bora on August 21st, 2019, said the demonetization has destroyed the country’s economy. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government had announced the demonetisation on November 8, 2019.

    Addressing a press conference here in Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s headquarter in Guwahati, Bora said, “The industries of all fields including the automobile sector, insurance companies and telecom sector have suffered losses since the BJP came to power in the country. The country has suffered a seven per cent savings decrease.”

    The present Rajya Sabha MP, Bora further said, “Investment rate has gone down in the country during the BJP’s rule. People have not witnessed any job opportunities. Even around seven lakh youths will lose their jobs within the next three months.”

    Talking about the leaders, who quit the Congress and joined the saffron party, Bora said, “The Congress is least bothered about the matter that who quit the party and joined the BJP. There are still true leaders in the party.” The former Assam Education Minister during the Congress rule in the state further said that the Congress is going to organize rallies in the legislative constituencies of the leaders who joined the saffron party.

    It may be mentioned that the former Rajya Sabha MP and the senior Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita, former Rajya Sabha MP Satinuse Kujur and former Barak valley Congress leader Gautam Roy recently quit the Congress and joined the BJP. Earlier the Rajya Sabha MP from Assam Sanjay Singh also quit the Congress and joined the BJP.

    Moreover, slamming the BJP, Bora said that the BJP governments at the centre and state have been continuously striving to divert the people’s mind from the primary issues.
