The 3rd edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival(GIFF) will kick start from October 31st this year and is slated to have a week-long extravaganza in Guwahati, Assam. Over 100 films from more than 65 countries will be screened in the festival which will be divided into various sections with Iran in focus.
Concluding on November 6th, 2019, the week-long festival will reportedly be attended by legendary filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi and envoys and other top filmmakers. The GIFF is organised by Jyoti Chitraban in association with DBH Regional Government Film and Television Institute with support of the Government of Assam.
It may be mentioned that the first-ever GIFF inaugurated on October 28, 2017 by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had screened a total of 72 films coming from more than 30 countries. Divided into various sections, Turkey was the Country in Focus. The second edition of the festival focused on the ASEAN countries. A total of over 100 films from more than 40 countries were screened during the second edition.
The GIFF has been witnessing huge footfall of cine-goers, filmmakers, directors, film lovers from across the region. In the last two years the festival has got overwhelming response from the public.
