    Cops Crack Down On Illegal SIM Cards In Assam’s Morigaon

    Around 5500 illegal SIM cards of different companies were recovered from Safiul Islam

    Acting on a tip-off, the Moirabari police busted a racket of illegal purchase and sale of SIM cards in at Saharia Gaon in Assam’s Morigaon district. Police arrested one Saiful Islam in this connection and seized around 5,500 SIM cards of different companies including Vodafone and Idea.

    The operation led by officer-in-charge Adit Boro was conducted on September 19th, 2019. “Islam was involved in this business of illegal purchase and sale of SIM cards for a long time in the area. An investigation into the case has been launched,” police said.

    A case (No 300/2019) under sections 120B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy), 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 66 of the IT Act has been registered at the Moirabari Police Station against the accused.
