Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor got heavily trolled by Twitteratis after posting a picture about his participation in a protest rally at Kozhikode which had the Indian map without the northern-most territory. The MP later deleted the post and rectified it with another Tweet.
Tharoor had on December 20th, 2019 posted about his participation in a rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the coastal city, Kozhikode. He wrote “My first event tomorrow morning leading an @inckerala #IndiaAgainstCAA_NRC protest rally in Kozhikode. All welcome!” with the ‘mutilated’ Indian map and netizens came down heavily against the Congress leader.
“The Congres culture of the demeaning country continues, @ShashiTharoor advertises a distorted map of India,” BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje wrote on her Twitter.
Tharoor had tweeted about his participation in a rally at Kozhikode on Saturday against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens (NRC). However, the leader clarified his post stating that ‘it sought to depict not the territory but the people of India’.
It may be mentioned that the Congress leader has been strictly opposing the Citizenship Act and the implementation of the NRC across the country. He had earlier stated that the Act has terrible consequences on India’s foreign relations.
