Coal Illegally Being Transported Through Assam-West Bengal Border Despite Lockdown

Some trucks were even using food transport permits

Even though Assam along with the entire country is in a lockdown due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), huge hauls of trucks loaded with coal has are illegally being transported through the Srirampur Gate at the Assam Meghalaya border.

A source said that the trucks are moving through gate despite them not being permitted. The “coal traders” allegedly are paying bribes to some “authorities” to get these trucks passed through.

The source claimed that some trucks are using “food commodity passes” to transport the coal.

So far there are no actions seen by the authorities against these alleged illegal coal-trucks.

Over the years, there are several allegations where it is seen that some “government” officials are involved in the illegal coal rackets.
