    Centre Planning To Set Up Northeast Industrial Corridor: Rajnath Singh

    The road to new India will run through new Northeast India: Rajnath Singh

    In a bid to create job opportunities for the people of the Northeast, the government is planning to set up North East Industrial Corridor. The announcement was made by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on November 14th, 2019 during the 11th Maitree Diwas celebrations in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

    Singh said that the road to new India will run through the ‘new Northeast’ and that the Arunachal Corridor will act as a land bridge between India and South East Asia which will provide ample employment opportunities giving a fillip to trade and tourism.

    He added that the country is marching forward on the path of all-round progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    While addressing the crowd the Union Minister further added that the government has already taken steps to improve connectivity in the state. It has already approved the construction of a tunnel at Sela Pass to Tawang, operationalization of Pasighat airport, setting up Hollongi airport near Itanagar and establishing three strategic railway lines. The projects will provide all-weather connectivity to the local population, facilitate the movement of armed forces and boost tourism, the minister added.

    Singh took part in the 11th Maitree Diwas at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium Tawang on November 14th, 2019 and declared it open. It is a two-day festival celebrates civil-military bonhomie in the area.

    Singh visited the forward areas in Bumla near Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. He had an interaction with the jawans and officers of the Indian Army.
