A United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) cadre, who was tasked to recruit youths, was apprehended at Dillighat in a special operation conducted by security forces.
Lakheshwar Boruah alias Dhoop Singh alias Labang Asom, a resident of Novijiti under Bordumsa Police Station, Tinsukia district was apprehended by a joint team of Army Camp Sapekhati, Dangri Kumar and Charaideo Police.
He was arrested while coming to collect the newly recruited youths from their pre-designated place in general area Dilli Reserve Forest on Dec 29, 2019
One factory made 7.65mm pistol with rounds, one ULFA -I flag, jungle boots etc were recovered from the cadre and the new recruit.
“He was carrying out recruitment on the orders of self-styled Major Arunodoy Dohotia who is publicity secretary of ULFA (I). He was to move towards Tinsukia and across to Myanmar after getting together all the new recruits at Namrup and neighbouring areas of Charaideo district,” sources said.
