Rajasthan Royals To Set Up Cricket Academy In Assam By Jan 2020

Rajasthan Royals to play 2 IPL matches at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati

The Rajasthan Royals(RR) co-owner Manoj Badale on November 6th, 2019 announced that the franchise cricket team is going to set up a cricket academy in the state in association with Assam Cricket Association by January 2020.

The announcement came during his visit to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium officially known as Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Badale further confirmed that RR’s two Indian Premier League (IPL) fixtures will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

The RR usually play their home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. As per media reports, the franchise had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to allow playing few matches in Guwahati.

The franchise has an Assam connection as Guwahati boy Riyan Parag plays for RR. Earlier this year, the franchise’s chief operating officer, Jake Lush McCrum along with Riyan inspected the Barsapara Stadium. Riyan is the youngest player to score a half-century in the history of IPL.

The players’ auction for this season, IPL 13, is likely to be held on December 19th, 2019.
