Missing AASU Leader Suspected To Join ULFA-I

The students' union leader Biju Gogoi has been missing since January 3rd, 2020

Amid the widespread agitation against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), an All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader is suspected to have joined the insurgent group ULFA-I in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.

As per initial reports, the students’ union leader Biju Gogoi has been missing since January 3rd, 2020. His family informed that he went to take part in an anti-CAA rally organised by the Tinsukia unit of AASU and All Assam Matak Yuva Chatra Sanmilan at the ITI playground and did not return back home.

A missing complaint has been lodged with the Pengeri police by his family.

Meanwhile, Gogoi is suspected to have joined the banned outfit following his reply to a text message which read: “I have come out to fight for our motherland. Do not worry about me. You take care of yourself”.

Based on the report, the Tinsukia police have launched operations to located the missing youth.
