Guwahati: The Lok Sabha cleared the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill that seeks to scrap Article 370 and Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir on August 6th, 2019. A total of 366 members voted in favour of the bill while 72 voted against the bill.
On August 5th, 2019, the Rajya Sabha cleared the bill with 125 votes in favour and 61 against the bill. The Union Government on August 5th, 2019 moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
At the end of the voting, the Rajya Sabha passed the J&K Reorganisation Bill.
