The Indian Army on August 23rd, 2019 paid rich tributes to the Gorkha Rifles Jawan, Naik Rajib Thapa, who had lost his life in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naushera sector of Rajouri district on August 22nd, 2019. Wrapped in a tri-color the martyr was given full state honours.
The 34-year-old Jawan originally hailed from Alipurduar district, West Bengal. He is survived by his wife Khushbu and 7-month-old daughter. The Gorkha Rifles Jawan’s killing yesterday has rose the death toll on the Indian side to four till the filing of this news in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch since August 17th, 2019.
The Indian Army informed that the Jawan was manning a forward post in Kalsia village and came under unprovoked firing from across the border. Although he was immediately rushed to the hospital he succumbed to his bullet injuries.
As per reports, the Indian army in a retaliatory action to the ceasefire violation by Pakistan have claimed to destroy a number of Pakistan Army posts and casualties to the Pakistan Army troop.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire along the LoC since a week which led to cross-firings initiated by unprovoked firing with small arms.
