Dipen Boro has been appointed as the new president of the All Boro Students’ Union (ABSU). The decision was taken during the ABSU’s Special Convention at Goybari Gwjwn Nwgwr, Tamulpur in Udalguri district.
The body has relieved Pramod Boro from the post of president of the ABSU. Speculations are rife that Promod is going to join active politics and is likely to float a new party. There are reports that the former president of the ABSU is going to contest the BTC polls to be held in April this year.
Dipen has been inducted as the new president of the Union till next conference to be held in January 2021.
Another vice president Romeo P Narzary has also been relieved from his charge. Along with him, Mantu Baro, Secretary has also been released from the organization. Jayanta Basumatary is the new Speaker and Sunilal Basumatary is the new vice president till the next conference.
Speaking to reporters, Promod said, “Now that I am free of responsibilities, I would dedicate myself to the development of the Bodoland region. Now, I have more time to think about my people and the region as a whole.”
