The Assam government on January 9th, 2020 introduced a subsidy scheme for ‘Divyang’ (physically handicapped) employees of state government for purchasing two-wheelers/cars.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Assam Finance Minister said, “The government will provide an interest subsidy of four per cent to the different-abled state government employees. The costs of divyang friendly conveyance are higher due to modifications.”
He added, “The regular state government employees between 21-53 years are eligible for the scheme so that the loan servicing period of seven years is within the service period of employees.”
The maximum loan amount shall be 48 times of the net monthly income or Rs 10 lakh, whichever is lower.
“The scheme is applicable to all existing Divyang friendly car/two-wheeler loanees of the state government,” he added.
The Minister also mentioned that 50,000 employees of Assam National Health Mission can claim medical reimbursement upto Rs 5 lakh annually from the government. “The scheme will also cover their family members including parents,” he said.
