Ahead of Independence Day, three youths were arrested for their alleged links with the banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), led by fugitive Paresh Baruah.
The three youths – two linkmen and one ULFA-I cadre – were nabbed along with a grenade from Bokta Borpiyal in Demow on the night of August 9th, 2019. Babu Tamuli and Biren Chetiya were arrested from Bokta Borpiyal and Arun Raidhingia was picked up from Masoi area.
Based on a tip-off, Sivasagar Police launched an operation in Bokta Borpiyal area and arrested the Tamuli and Chetiya from one Girin Tamuli’s house.
A few days back, four persons including a school teacher, coaching student and a private hospital staffer were arrested by police from different places in Upper Assam for their alleged links with the outlawed group.
