A total of 6 students were expelled for adopting unfair means in the examination hall in Dhubri district’s Chapar town of Assam on the first day of the Higher Secondary examination conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
The students were caught cheating at the Chapar Higher Secondary School.
“The HS examinations are underway in the three centres in Chapar and the supervising officers six students indulged in unfair means during the examination and they have been expelled. Despite all the clear instructions given the AHSEC, it is unfortunate that they were caught violating the norms.” said Nabajit Pathak, Chapar Circle Officer.
The AHSEC on February 10th, 2020 announced that the examinees of Class 12 final exam caught indulging in the malpractice inside examination centres will be barred for a year. The decision was conveyed to all the in-charge of the examination centres.
It may be mentioned that a total of 2,34,809 students are appearing for the HS course final examination which kick-started on February 12th, 2020.
A special committee of the AHSEC will examine the cheating cases and might extend the period of expulsion.
