The Filmfare Awards are a set of awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of the country, aka Bollywood.

For the first-time-ever, the Assam Government is exploring options to cash in on the heady mix glitz, glamour, fashion and the who’s who of Bollywood to boost the tourism sector of the state in the global circuit.

To promote Assam as a global tourist destination, the government is planning to host the Filmfare Awards ceremony in Guwahati, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious film events in India. The State government has sanctioned Rs 300 crore for the tourism sector in the Assam Budget 2019.

The Filmfare Awards are a set of awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of the country, aka Bollywood.  The Filmfare Awards were first introduced in 1954 and are voted on by both the public and a committee of experts.

Speaking at the 10th Annual General Convention 2019 of Tour Operators Association of Assam in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said his government is chalking out strategies to organize the Raax Festival of Majuli and Nalbari districts on the lines of the Ambubachi Mela held atop the Nilachal Hils in the Kamakhya Temple here.
