In wake of call for ‘Northeast Bandh’, the Gauhati University (GU) has postponed all examination scheduled for December 10th, 2019.
“All examinations of MA, MSc, LLM, M Tech, BA, BSc, BCom, BE, B Tech, LLB, BA LLB, Int MCom etc scheduled on 10/12/2019 are postponed to avoid any untoward situation. The rescheduled date will be notified separately,” read a notification issued by DJ Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, GU.
Protests over the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which is expected to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on December 9th, 2019, have intensified in Assam.
Demanding to scrap of the Bill, the North East Students’ Organization has called a ‘Northeast Bandh’ on December 10th, 2019 while All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union, All Assam Chutia Students’ Union and All Moran Students Union has called for ‘Assam Bandh’ on December 9th, 2019. Security has been tightened across the state.
It may be mentioned, GU had to cancel and postpone the 3rd-semester Political Science examination due to “missing question paper”.
On November 29th, 2019, students were to supposed appear for the 3rd-semester Political Science paper. The paper has two parts – Indian Constitution and International Relations and students are supposed to answer from either one of the two optional parts. However, the Indian Constitution part was missing from the paper resulting in chaos like situation among the students.
The examination was rescheduled on December 10th, 2019 from 9 am to 12 noon (Morning Shift).
