In yet another setback, former Rajya Sabha member from Assam Santiuse Kujur tendered his resignation from the party on August 10th, 2019.
Kujur cited his resignation as a ‘personal decision’. Rumour mills are abuzz that Kujur is likely to switch over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly. His tenure as the Congress’ MP of Rajya Sabha ended in the month of June 2019.
“I am tendering my resignation from the party with immediate effect and this purely my personal decision. I have worked in the Congress party for more than 13 years and I have been pleased to be a part of the leading political party,” he wrote in the resignation letter.
Earlier in the day, Congress’ former minister and veteran leader from Barak Valley Gautam Roy too confirmed of resigning from the party. Roy is likely to join the BJP on August 11th, 2019.
