Former Rajya Sabha MP from Assam Bhubaneswar Kalita who recently joined the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) was accorded a grand welcome at the Assam BJP headquarters on August 18th, 2019.

Kalita was received by Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Irrigation Bhabesh Kalita, MP Rameshwar Telli and other top BJP leaders. State BJP President Ranjit Kumar Dass welcomed the newly inducted party leader with a traditional Assamese gamusa.

The former Congress chief whip who joined the BJP on August 9th, 2019 had resigned from the Upper House of the parliament – Rajya Sabha and Congress on August 5th, 2019 expressing his dissatisfaction at party’s stand on the Article 370 that gave special status to the Jammu and Kashmir.
