‘Bade Bade Kamo Mein…’: Dhubri DSP Has A Message After Being Attacked In West Bengal

Guwahati: Along with its social media handles, the Assam Police personnel are also keeping up with the trend of ‘playing it cool’ but delivering the message ‘loud and clear’.

Friends and well-wishers of Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Dhubri, Trinayan Bhuyan expressed concern after reports surfaced that he was attacked by cattle smugglers in West Bengal.

Twisting an iconic dialogue from the 90’s Bollywood classic, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,  the police officer uploaded a selfie with his son which carried a caption: Bade bade kamo mein aisi choti choti batain hoti rehti hai (In big cases, small hiccups occur now and then).

Penned by director Aditya Chopra, the dialogue Bade bade deshon mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hai, Senorita (In big countries, small things keep happening, Senorita) continues to mesmerise the Bollywood lovers till date. Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) said these words to Simran (Kajol) and made the audience swoon. Over time, the dialogue has become a part of pop-culture.

Bhuyan with his team had visited West Bengal to nab a gang of illegal cattle smugglers from Dhubri’s Gauripur.

“We had received inputs that the gang led by Abdul Jabbar is operating the illegal trade from a market near Baksihat in Howrah district of West Bengal. We (six-member team) went to the market in civil dress and were able to arrest Abdul with the help of our back up team there,” Bhuyan told Time8.

He added, “But a group of secret agents pelted stones at us and gheraoed us from all directions. The cattle smugglers also got into a tug of war with the police while trying to save their leader, Abdul. We had to fire in the air to control the situation.”

It may be mentioned, it was under Bhuyan’s leadership a total of 409 inmates, including eight women, were shifted to the Dhubri Girls’ College on the night of July 15th, 2019 after flood situation worsened in the district.

Though 28-year-old rape accused Hajifur Rahman managed to escape from the ventilator of the makeshift jail, Bhuyan and his team arrested him within 60 hours from Fakirganj in neighbouring Goalpara district.
