    ATM Loot Bid Foiled In Assam’s Charaideo, 3 Arrested

    The Moranhat police on July 31st, 2019, arrested three ATM thieves from Moran town in upper Assam’s Charaideo district.

    The accused are Parthapratim Baglary (27), son of police constable Diganta Baglary of Baruajan Konwa village in Durgapur Tea Estate under Barbarua Police Station in Dibrugarh district; Puranjan Barua (25), son of  Anil Barua of Siringhola village under Lahowal Police Station and Kishor Mech (22), son of Jaykanta Mech of Teporchali village under Lahowal Police Station.

    As per information, on July 29th, 2019 night, Diganta, Puranjan and Kishor had allegedly attempted to rob an ATM of Axis Bank located at Moran Kanai Mansion market.

    “A patrolling team-led by head constable Jagat Hazarika spotted them in the ATM and foiled their attempt. But unfortunately, the accused fled the spot in a vehicle bearing registration number AS06 U9950,” police said.

    Later, on July 30th, 2019, the vehicle was recovered from Barbarua. Police had also recovered an oxygen cylinder and an LPG cylinder including other objectionable items.

    A case (No 73/2019) under sections 448 (Punishment for house-trespass), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 379 (Punishment for theft) and 551 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at the Moranhat Police Station. The accused have been sent behind the bars after interrogation, police said.
