Assam State Transportation Corporation (ASTC) to issue e-tickets for city buses at the bus stoppage or in the buses.
The ASTC to ply 300 city buses from 6 am to 5 pm in Guwahati from May 4th, 2020.
Initially, the ASTC decided to ply only 100 city buses in Guwahati. Later it decided to add 200 more city buses.
“City bus e-ticket will be available at the city bus stop or in buses,” said Anand Prakash Tiwari, MD, ASTC.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the ASTC buses can operate with up to 50 per cent seating capacity and bus depots can operate with up to 50 per cent capacity.
“Only 50 per cent seats are allowed for travel, the remaining seats will be kept vacant. No standing journey for passengers will be allowed. Mask and gloves are mandatory for passengers,” Tiwari said.
The ASTC is providing bus service from all stations with only online booking system. No offline service is available in long-distance or intercity and inter-district services. Book your ticket through RedBus portal,” said Tiwari.
He added, “ASTC will add new services from hills district, BTR, and Barak Vally. Buses will be operated from 6.30 am to 5 pm only. No night service is allowed at present.”
Spitting is strictly prohibited at the bus stand, inside or from the bus. It is a punishable offence under Section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act.
