Assembly Polls: BJP Gears Up For Mission 100 In Assam

The BJP would prepare a report card for all the sitting MLAs and other BJP leaders on the basis of their works for the forthcoming assembly polls

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is aiming to win 100 out 126 seats in the 2021 Assam Assembly elections.

The party has kick-started its Mission 100 by reaching out to the grassroot workers in order to strengthen the organisational bases in the assembly seats presently held by Congress.

The BJP held organizational meetings in Titabor, Samaguri and Mariani. It will hold similar meetings in Golaghat, Nazira, Sivasagar and Doom Dooma.

Assam BJP chief Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the non-stop agitations against the Citizenship Amendment Act would not affect the party’s Mission 100. Earlier, Assam Finance Minister and NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasised that the BJP would win at least 100 of the 126 seats in 2021 elections.

Dass had earlier mentioned that party would prepare a report card for all the sitting MLAs and other BJP leaders on the basis of their works for the forthcoming assembly polls slated for 2021. Based on the report card, the deserving candidate would get the ticket to contest the next year’s assembly polls, Dass said.

The BJP came to power in 2016 in Assam. The saffron party has 61 members in the current assembly.

However, former Assam chief minister and veteran Congress leader Traun Gogoi termed the BJP’s Mission 100 as “unrealistic”.
