Das along with Iran’s Abbas Amini, South Africa’s Jenna Bass will form the jury of Generation 14 Plus category at the festival.

Elated at the news, Das wrote on Facebook, “Being on the jury of Berlin International film festival is a huge honour and responsibility. I feel blessed that I have got this opportunity at an early stage in my journey.”

She added, “It’s only last year that Bulbul Can Sing was part of Generation 14 Plus. This is even more special since Generation section showcases films for children and youth, which are very close to my heart. I hope more filmmakers in India as well are inspired to make films for children and youth.”

Das’ feature film Bulbul Can Sing received a ‘Special Mention’ at the Berlin International Film Festival 2019. The film was competing in the Generation 14 Plus category at the festival.

A total of 18 films focussing heavily on European and Asian art-house titles will be screened at the festival. My Salinger Year, a literary drama from Canadian filmmaker Philippe Falardeau will open this year’s Berlin Film Festival at the Berlinale Palast.

The film is based upon the memoir of the same name by Joanna Rakoff. It stars Margaret Qualley and Sigourney Weaver.
