Kumar Padmapani Bora, Indian Revenue Service officer, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Union Ministry of Textiles for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders.

He is presently serving as the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai. Prior to this, Bora had worked on various important posts in the Income Tax Department, Guwahati.

Bora, who hails from the state of Assam, completed his initial schooling from the Jorhat Government Boys’ School and pursued graduation from Cotton College, Guwahati. He completed his Masters and M. Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Bora also holds a Masters in Business Law and Taxation from the University of NALSAR, Hyderabad and MBA in Finance. He cracked the UPSC exam in 2008.
