    Assam Summer Assembly Session Postponed Due To Flood

    In view of the worsening flood situation in the state, the forthcoming session of the Summer Session of the 14th Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) has been postponed and will commence on July 26th, 2019. It was earlier scheduled to take place from July 18th, 2019.

    Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami informed on July 16th, 2019 that the decision to postpone the session has been taken after due consultation with the Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

    On the first day, the Question Hour will be followed by the Speaker announcing the Report of the Business Advisory Committee, ALA, settling the Business for the Summer Session of the Assembly, 2019.

    The Government Business will also include other scheduled activities like the laying of ordinances, laying of reports, rules, if any and Presentation of Reports on various Assembly Committees if any.

    The motion of election of Members to various Government Committees, Boards etc, presentation of the list of Supplementary Demand for Grants and Supplementary Appropriation for the year 2019-2020 (if any) and introduction of Government Bills (if any) will also take place on the first day of the assembly session.

    It may be mentioned that the situation in Assam deteriorated on July 15th, 2019 as floodwaters submerged 30 of the 33 districts and the death toll increased to 15.
