The Assam government has decided to shut all its tiger reserves, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden till March 29th, 2020 as part of its preparation to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). No positive case of disease Covid-19 has been found in Assam till date.
The government has also suspended all permissions granted for film shootings and research works in the wildlife spots till March 29th, 2020 This comes after the Assam government decided to shut all schools, colleges, universities, movie halls, gyms and swimming pools to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
On the other hand, the Gauhati High Court announced that the Principal Seat of the High Court, as well as its outlying Benches at Kohima, Aizawl and Itanagar, will be restricted to urgent matters only in wake of the coronavirus pandemic
All the lawyers, litigants, members of staff, security staff will be subjected to medical screening before entry, according to a notification.
The Gauhati High Court is the high court for Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. In a notification, the court stated that entry of any foreign national in Courts and Offices is strictly restricted until further orders.
A total of 253 travellers from coronavirus affected countries have been identified and out of them, 123 passengers have completed the 28-day observation period.
A total of 57 beds in isolation ward with ICU/ventilator facility are kept ready at the six Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals for confirmed COVID-19 cases. “Two bedded isolation wards are established in all the district civil hospitals,” Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said.
Krishna further informed that 10,605 persons have been surveyed in the state and 599 persons who came in contact with the US national who tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhutan were identified and kept under home surveillance.
