    Assam Police Constable Killed In Road Crash In Manikpur

    The locals suspect that the truck was illegally carrying beetel nuts and was involved in supari syndicate

    An Assam police constable died on the spot and another jawan sustained hand and leg injuries after a speeding supari-laden truck bearing registration no RJ04GB8069 rammed into the duo near Borbila area under Manikpur town in Bongaigaon district of Assam on the night of September 15th, 2019.

    The incident took place while on-duty police constables Ramiz Uddin and Krishnaram Nath were interrogating a road accident which had taken place along the National Highway 31 yesterday night when the supari-laden truck coming from the opposite direction skidded off the road and crash into the police constables. Ramiz Uddin died on the spot.

    According to reports, the truck was bound towards South Karnataka from Howli and was carrying over 500 bags of supari. It is suspected that the truck was illegally carrying the beetel nuts and was involved in supari syndicate.

    Post the accident a pall of gloom has descended in the region.
