Refuting the speculation over the formation of new political party, the general secretary of the Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, B Ferenga, on February 10th, 2020, said that the matter has not yet been discussed.
“We have not yet discussed anything about the formation of any political party so far,” he said while speaking to the media persons. He told the reporters that all the factions of the NDFB, who are signatories of the historic Bodo peace accord, are planning for the unification for the greater interest of the Bodo community. “But, no date has been finalised for that,” he added.
Meanwhile, the chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Hagrama Mohilary said the formation of a new political party would not affect his party (Bodoland Peoples’ Front). Talking about the next general elections of the council, he said that his party would form the government again. “We are ready to share seats with the All Bodo Students’ Union if they join hands with us,” he added.
It may be mentioned that a total of 1,615 cadres of three factions of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) along with 178 arms and 4803 ammunitions officially surrendered at the arms laying down ceremony in Guwahati on January 30th, 2020.
836 cadres of the NDFB(P) surrendered with 116 arms, 3245 ammunition, 14 grenades, 1 mortar, 579 of the NDFB(RD) surrendered with 24 arms and 200 of the NDFB(S) surrendered with 178 arms, 4803 ammunition, 14 grenades and 1 mortar.
