Assam Govt To Regulate Private School Fee Structure From 2020

State education department will soon frame new rules/policy in this regard

Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya recently announced that the government is taking measures to fix the fee structure of the private schools in the state which should be put in place from the academic year 2020 next.

The Minister also added that the department will soon frame new rules/policy in this regard and also a committee headed by RC Jain, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Assam(SEBA) has been formed to look out for ways in order to regulate the fees of private schools.

It may be mentioned that the demand for setting up of District Fee Regulatory Committee (DFRC) has been going for quite some time now, however there has been no committee for its functioning.

The Minister also added that implementation of the new norms would not take much time as the education department do not have to take due approval from the state assembly.

Earlier the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had taken up the issue with the stakeholders to fix the fee structure.
