    Assam Govt Appeals People Stranded In Other States To Stay There During Lockdown

    Assam government on March 31st, 2020, appealed the people hail from the state stranded in other states to remain where they are during the lockdown period.

    Chief Secretary to the government of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna said that all necessary arrangements for food, accommodation and other amenities would be ensured in consultation with government and local administration of respective states.

    It may be mentioned that as many as 216 people from Assam went to attend Nizamuddin Markaz congregation in Delhi and stuck there due to nation-wide complete lockdown declared by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 21 days.

    The Assam Government has urged the people who had attended the congregation earlier this month to voluntarily report to the nearest hospital.

    The Delhi Police has cordoned off the area around the Markaz Masjid located around 100 metres from the Nizamuddin dargah where around 200 people showed symptoms of highly contagious novel coronavirus (COVID-19) after taking part in a religious gathering a few days ago. Six people who attended the convention died of coronavirus, Telangana government authorities confirmed today.

    As reported, around 2,000 people from different parts of the country and Asia had attended a convention of Islamic preachers held by the Tabligh-e-Jamaat here from March 1st-15th, 2020. Several people who attended the congregation showed symptoms of COVID-19.
