With an emphasis to make Assam pollution-free, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on August 17th, 2019 inaugurated the state’s first-ever Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel station at Chowkidingee in Dibrugarh district.
Sonowal said, “When the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the state, we had made an agenda to make the state terror and pollution free. So, today is the first step towards fulfilling the dream of making Assam pollution-free and now CNG vehicles will become effective to control air pollution.”
“Now, people can avail CNG fuel at a lesser price compared to petrol and diesel and this indeed is a step towards a clean and green Assam. In the coming years, CNG fuel stations will be set up in other districts of the state,” he added.
He further thanked the Assam Gas Company, Assam State Electricity Board and Assam State Transport Corporation for their efforts to set up this first-ever CNG fuel station in the state.
It may be mentioned, CNG fuel is much affordable and it is cost-effective for users.
