Assam Congress Committee President Ripun Bora has given a Zero Hour Notice in the Rajya Sabha over flood situation in the state. Torrential rainfall in the state has led to floods in large parts of Assam. The MPs blamed the government in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled state for failing to prevent the devastation created by floods.
Holding placards Bora, Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi, Lok Sabha MP Abdul Khaleque, Rajya Sabha MP Ranee Narah and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh demanded the “BJP-led Assam Government to combat with flood on war footing manner”.
Around 85 relief camps have been set up for relief and rescue purpose with lakhs of people from 28 districts being affected by the advent of floods in the state.
More than 26 lakh people have been affected by floods in 28 districts of Assam as on July 14th, 2019, even as the death toll rose to eleven.
