However, apart from flash floods, wild elephants are also posing a threat in Kaliabor sub-division. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kalibor sub-division has written to Divisional Forest Officer, Bokakhat, Nagaon in this regard.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kalibor sub-division has mentioned in the letter that herds of wild elephants are using the Hatimurah dyke for their movement in the Hatimurah area. This movement is causing damage to the dyke which is in a vulnerable position these days due to rising flood water level.
The movement of elephants is also endangering the lives of water resource personnel deployed on the dyke for its constant watch and protection, the letter mentioned.
