Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam improved slightly on Friday as water levels continued to recede in several districts of the state over the last 24 hours.
A total of 55, 677 people in four districts of Goalpara, Nagaon, Hojai and Cachar remained affected till Friday evening. The water level of the Kopili river in Nagaon was flowing above the danger level.
According to the Assam state disaster management authority, some 2392 people were residing in 21 relief camps set up by the government. So far, 10 persons have lost lives in the flood.
