With donations pouring in from different corners, IPL star cricketer Riyan Parag too came forward and donated an amount of Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on July 20th, 2019.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal appreciated the move and mentioned that it is overwhelming to see the young generation coming forward to aid relief efforts.
“Thank you Riyan Parag for your contribution of ₹ 1 Lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. It is heartening to see the young generation coming forward in large numbers to help those affected during #AssamFloods,” Sonowal tweeted.
The young cricketer from Guwahati grabbed the headlines this year through his stellar performance in the 2019 Indian Premier League. He played for the Rajasthan Royals team and became the hero for the team by showing his consistent and impressive performance in the field.
Track sensation Hima Das on July 16th, 2019 also donated half of her month’s salary for the relief of flood victims. Hima also appealed to big corporates and individuals to come out and help the victims of the flood as it continues to ravage her home state.
National Award-winning filmmaker from Assam, Rima Das has also donated Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid relief efforts in her home state.
It may be mentioned, due to pounding rains, the flood situation worsened in Assam leaving millions of people and animals homeless. 47 lives have been lost so far and 110 animals have died in the Kaziranga National Park.
