    Assam Flood After-effects: Maximum Schools Remain Close Due To Muddy, Filthy Environment

    The waves of the recent deluge paralysed the education system in the state along with civil infrastructure.

    In South Salmara-Mankachar district, a total of 63 schools are still reeling under floodwaters. On the other hand, flood-affected people have been taking shelter in eight schools.

    The summer vacation has ended with the end of July. But, regular classes in 71 out of 315 schools in South Salmara-Mankachar district could not be started due to deteriorated condition.

    Mankachar Block Educational officer Anisur Rahman informed that there are 250 lower primary schools, 16 upper primary schools, 26 MV Schools, 13 composite schools and 10 high schools in the region.

    Most of the schools across the state remained closed on the first working day after the summer vacation since the condition of the schools is muddy and filthy.

    On the other hand, a total of 74 students of Khagarijan Lower Primary School in Dhekiajuli have faced a major problem since the flood washed away the school.

    The ravaging deluge made the state paralyzed from which the state is yet to overcome. More than 57 lakh people had been affected in the flood across the state.

    However, the floodwaters have been receding in the state. People have started returning to their home.
