The Assam wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on September 1st, 2019, announced that the doctors will stage a 24-hour-long state-wide strike on September 3rd, 2019 in protest against the gruesome mob attack on a doctor. However, the emergency services will be continued during the protest, the authority informed.

The IMA reiterated its zero-tolerance against any sort of violence on doctors, health workers and health establishments. “It is painful to express our serious concern on repeated assaults on doctors across Assam. This recent incidence has crossed all tolerable limits and IMA has found no words to condemn it,” a press communique stated.
State president of the IMA, Satyajit Borah said, “The assaults on doctors are on increase. This is also worth mentioning that the conviction rates on culprits booked in assaults on doctors are very low.
