    Assam Discharges 3 Coronavirus Patients In Goalpara

    Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that all the cases related to the Nizamuddin Markaz are expected to close by April 20th, 2020 in Assam

    Assam discharged three novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients on April 16th, 2020 after recovery. Two COVID-19 patients were discharged on April 15th, 2020.

    Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Minister of State Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika visited the Goalpara Civil Hospital to monitor the discharge of the three patients.

    “As per protocols, the three patients have been sent to 14-day home quarantine after they tested negative in two successive tests,” Sarma said.

    The Minister said that a total of 1,456 people who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi have been traced and quarantined. 

    Sarma also mentioned that all the cases related to the Markaz are expected to close by April 20th, 2020 in Assam.

    “Assam will report no more COVID-19 cases with links to Tablighi Jamaat,” Sarma said. The number of COVID-19 patients has reached 32 in Assam. One of the 32 patients had died.

    A cargo plane from Guangzhou has delivered 50,000 PPE kit to Assam on April 15th, 2020. With these kits, Assam will have a stock of 1.5 lakh PPE kit.

    It may be mentioned, five districts in Assam as has been identified as COVID-19 hotspot districts with cluster by the Union Health Ministry. The districts are: Golaghat, Nalbari, Morigaon, Goalpara and Dhubri.
