The Assam Congress on November 4th, 2019, announced a series of state-wide agitations from November 6th to 8th, 2019 against Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government’s ‘wrong policies’ resulting economic slowdown in the country.
This protest will be staged as part of the call of the All India Congress Committee to stage country-wide protest from November 5th to 15th, 2019.
“The general people of the country have faced trouble in the last five years due to the centre’s wrong policies. The root cause of this situation is demonetisation that the government declared in 2016,” Abinash Joshi, Assam Congress general secretary, said while addressing a press conference in Guwahati.
Lashing out at the Centre over the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Joshi said, “The Gross Domestic Product has also decreased due to the implementation of GST in the country. Many companies had to shut down. Unemployment has become a major problem.”
He also accused the BJP of failing to fulfil their promises made before the 2019 general election. “Many farmers committed suicide due to government’s wrong policies,” he added.
The impact of the economic slowdown can be seen everywhere. A situation of financial emergency has arrived now.
