Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on November 21st, 2019, while releasing the new land policy, said that it would safeguard the interest of the indigenous people.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The state government has been putting a lot of emphasis in preparing the Land Policy to safeguard the interest of the indigenous people and the Policy would remove complications regarding land allotments and settlements.”
The land policy 2019, which has been prepared by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department after 30 years, was approved by the state cabinet on October 21st, 2019. It was last prepared in 1989.
On the other hand, Sonowal also released the Hand Book of Circulars, Volume-V containing the Government Circulars, Office Memorandum etc. issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department from May 1st, 2007 to August 30th, 2019. He directed the department officials to make the Hand Book available to all levels of officials of the department.
Minister of State of Revenue and Disaster Management Bhabesh Kalita, Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister Shantanu Bharali, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department Kumar Sanjay Krishna were also present on the occasion.
