Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing economic situation in Assam during the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and called for a time-bound work plan to boost the economy in the state.
Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Last one month has been of unprecedented challenge for everyone. With the Prime Minister’s leadership, tremendous hard work of our frontline warriors and coming together of people, we are now in an advantageous position against the pandemic.”
He added, “Now, another challenge lies ahead to revive the economy without diluting fight against COVID-19. We’ll achieve this with our trademark style of taking everyone along, in Team Assam spirit, with which we’ve been resolutely fighting against the pandemic. Our economists have suggested valuable ideas to us today.”
He further thanked all the senior economists for their suggestions in a meeting that was held at the Janata Bhawan on Tuesday.
He added, “We will require a timebound work plan and a task force to deal with the economic situation arising out of COVID-19, and your suggestions in this regard will prove decisive in the coming days.”
