The All Assam Cab Operators Union has appealed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to provide the families linked with taxi services in Assam with a financial aid of at least Rs 10 thousand amid the lockdown.
Ismail Ali, president of the union said that most of the vehicles that are serving the taxi industry were bought on loans and these vehicles have to feed the families of the drivers and the owners. “However, with the lockdown due the COVID-19 outbreak, the people associated with the industry are finding it hard to run their families and it will even be harder for them to pay the EMI’s of their vehicles”, he added.
Ismail added that in this condition, the government should help the cab drivers in Assam with a financial assistance of Rs 10000 to each of the families of the cab drivers. Apart from this they also demanded the government to take initiatives to wave of their EMIs.
