Assam boxer Lovlina Borgohain distributed food packets to hundreds of needy and daily wage labourers in Barpathar at Golaghat district amid nationwide lockdown due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19)outbreak.

In such trying times, Lovlina, two-time world bronze-winner, made 250 packets of fruits, vegetables and dry ration for distribution to the needy people in Barpathar.

India is in the middle of a 21-day lockdown enforced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 25th, 2020 to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The pugilist is enjoying hearty meals and spending time with her family since she mostly always away from home. Lovlina also keeps sharing her workout videos.

Lovlina also requested the citizens to maintain social distancing and stay indoors to overcome the coronavirus crisis.

Her career’s biggest break came when she was selected to participate in the 2018 Commonwealth Games welterweight boxing category.

She represented India for the first time at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship, held in New Delhi, where she won the bronze medal in the Welterweight (69 kg) category.

The 22-year old has also qualified for Tokyo Olympics 2020 on March 8th, 2020. She has become the first woman from Assam to represent the country in the Olympics. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 has forced the Tokyo Olympics to be postponed to 2021.
