    Assam Athlete Shines In London, Bags Medal In World Martial Arts Competition

    Ahead of the event, the Ajmal Foundation had provided Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the youth

    Assam athlete Samad Laskar has brought laurels to the state and the country by clinching a position in the recently concluded World Martial Arts Games 2019 held in London.

    Laskar who hails from Jamunamukh constituency in Hojai district of the state bagged bronze at the international event. He was a part of the National Martial Arts Committee (NMAC) India team who has altogether won 8 Medals (2 Silver and 6 Bronze) at the event.

    The competition started on October 25th and ended on October 27th, 2019.

    The locals who take pride in the youth claimed that despite languishing in poverty, Laskar never gave up his dreams in combat sports and worked towards achieving his goals.

    Ahead of the event his journey to London was funded by a group of local organizations and the Ajmal foundation who had provided Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the youth.

    With sheer determination and hard work the youth has proved that ‘where there is a will there is a way’.
