The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on October 31st, 2019 announced to launch a new students’ wing – Asom Chatra Parishad (ACP). Students studying in school, college and university can become a member of the ACP. The AGP has formed nine news Parishads by amending the constitution of the party.
The AGP was formed after the historic Assam Accord of 1985. The state’s oldest regional party was formally launched at the Golaghat Convention.
“To give more importance to our grassroot workers, we have amended our party’s constitution. We have also changed the names of our committees. The AGP will now on give more focus to social media,” said AGP leader Komola Kalita.
“We are trying to strengthen our party for the upcoming elections. We have formed the new students’ wing to give a mileage to regionalism,” said Assam Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta.
